Market position: nine German providers with a publicly stated fixed price for a one-pager range from €329 to €1,600, with a median of €890 — some quoted excluding VAT, some including it. Our entry price sits below that because a one-pager here is a proven template filled with your content, not custom development. Anything beyond that we quote by effort rather than from a catalogue: “on request” is more honest than a number we would have to walk back in conversation.

Why there are numbers here at all

Most providers in this field write “individually, based on effort” and leave you with that. It is comfortable for the provider and useless for you: you want to know whether you are looking in the right ballpark before you book a call.

So we went and looked at who in German-speaking countries publishes a price at all. The result is sobering: of the providers we found in August 2026, only a handful state a concrete figure — and the spread of those figures runs from a three-digit entry price to six figures for custom software. A market without price tags is not a sign of complexity but of convenience.

So we quote ranges. They are neither an offer nor a guarantee — what your project costs is put in writing after the first conversation. But they tell you honestly where we operate. If your budget is well below this, we both save an appointment.

The market comparison for automation

Where our ranges sit in the market

Six providers in German-speaking countries that publish an entry price for process automation — alongside our two ranges. Scale up to €20,000 excluding VAT.

Figures as a table
Prices in euros, excluding VAT. As of August 2026

Provider F €18,000 – 120,000 custom software, range extends beyond the scale
Median of the six entry prices €3,745 calculated from rows A to F

Method: our own survey. Included is every provider in German-speaking countries that states a concrete price for process automation on its website — six of them. Without naming, because prices change and a named comparison would only be fair with continuous verification. As of August 2026

Three things stand out in this picture, and all three matter more for your decision than the headline price:

  • Almost every figure is open-ended. “From €1,990” means the entry point is known and the ceiling is not. That is where the risk of a follow-up invoice sits — not in the entry price.
  • The median is €3,745. Anyone having a single workflow automated today typically lands there. Our range for one workflow starts at €900 and ends at €5,000 — a considerably lower entry point, and with a stated ceiling.
  • The spread is enormous. Between the cheapest and the most expensive entry price lies a factor of sixty. That is not a difference in quality but in what is being sold under the same word: a ready-made template, a chain of existing tools, or a piece of custom software.

One more figure for orientation: the median hourly rate for software and web development is €90 according to the Freelancer-Kompass 2026, with an average of €103 across all fields. A workflow at €1,500 therefore corresponds to roughly seventeen hours of work at the market rate. If someone offers you the same scope for €300, that is three hours — do the arithmetic on what can be built in three hours.

The market comparison for websites

What others charge for the same thing

So you can put our figure in context: we looked up eighteen German providers that state their price publicly on their website.

Company website, 5 – 15 pages €1,339 · €1,520 · €1,690 · €2,480 · €2,899 · €3,500 · €3,900 · €4,900 · €8,000 €2,899
Shop, portal, platform only three providers state a fixed price at all; the remaining figures scatter by a factor of twenty

“Middle price” means: half the providers are more expensive, half are cheaper. Included is every German provider that states a concrete fixed price on its website — not the usual “market overviews” in agency blogs, because they state neither method nor sample and contradict each other by a factor of three. One provider quotes including VAT, the rest excluding it. As of August 2026

  • An order of magnitude lies between the two sizes, not a surcharge. A one-pager costs €890 on average, a company website €2,899. Treating them as the same thing means comparing two different projects.
  • Our entry price sits below all nine. That works because a one-pager here is not a bespoke project: a proven template, your content, the legal pages set up, the accounts in your name. Anything above that we quote by effort and show how it adds up.
  • For shops and platforms hardly anyone names a price. Only three of the providers checked do so at all, and the remaining figures scatter by a factor of twenty. Forming an average from that would be an invention — which is why it says “by effort” there rather than a number.

What is in the standard scope at which size — fourteen features across all four tiers — is set out on the service page Websites & web platforms. You can also measure this site’s loading time yourself there.

What would it cost in your case?

For automation it gets more precise: the calculator takes the same base range as above and adds the surcharges we would apply when preparing a quote. No e-mail address, nothing stored.

Price estimate from your answers

Eight questions, no form, no e-mail address. The range comes from the same calculation we use to prepare a quote.

How large is your business?
How many workflows should be automated?
How many programs are involved?

Everything that sends or receives data counts: mailbox, accounting, calendar, shop, spreadsheet.

Do those programs have an interface?

The most underestimated item. Software without an interface has to be connected the long way round.

How clean is your data today?
How many exceptions does the workflow have?
Does someone have to approve before it continues?
Is personal data processed?

Your range, one-off, excluding VAT

€1,500 – 3,500

What that is made of

  • Base range: small team, one workflow€1,500 – 3,500
  • Your range€1,500 – 3,500

The factors are values from our own projects, not a measurement. Only a written quote after the first conversation is binding.

What the price does not include

Licence and running costs for the tools involved are passed through unchanged, with no markup. For small setups they typically come to €20–100 a month — n8n Cloud starts at €20 a month, Make at €9, Zapier at around 20 US dollars. If a project can do without a subscription, we say so.

Also not included: licences for your own software, changes a third party has to make to their system, and legal review. We are not a law firm — where a data protection impact assessment or legal advice is needed, we say so rather than billing for it.

What pushes the price up

Typical surcharge per factor

Surcharge on the base price when the point applies. These are exactly the factors the calculator above uses — values from our own projects, not a measurement.

  • Software without an interface +20 – 50 % Has to be connected the long way round — and is the most likely thing to break later.
  • Grown, unclean data +15 – 35 % Tidying up regularly costs more than the automating itself.
  • Many exceptions +15 – 35 % Three exceptions are a different project from thirty.
  • Each additional program +15 – 30 % Per connection: permissions, test cases, error handling.
  • Personal data +12 % Processing agreements, retention periods, logs — feasible, but work.
  • Approvals and roles +10 % “Only once someone has looked at it” is a component in its own right.

Ask about these points with every quote you obtain. Most price lists stay silent on them — and that is exactly where the follow-up invoice comes from.

These six points are not extras we invent; they are the reason one workflow costs €900 and another €5,000. So when you compare several quotes, do not compare the prices — compare the answers to these six questions.

From when does it pay for itself?

Cost against time saved, over 24 months

Two lines: what the solution costs, and what the time saved is worth. The crossing point is the day it starts paying off. Every slider can be set to your own case.

5 hours a week at €45 per hour is €10,125 a year. Against €2,500 setup and €49 a month, the break-even point is reached after 3.1 months.

0 6k 12k 18k 24k start 6 12 18 24 months after acceptance
Value of time saved Cost of the solution break-even
Three worked examples
Calculated with 45 working weeks a year and €49 a month for support. Amounts excluding VAT.
Case Time per week Hourly cost Value per year Setup Pays off after
Small workflowCapturing invoices, sole trader 2 hrs €35 €3,150 €1,200 5.6 months
Typical workflowSorting and pre-answering enquiries, small team 5 hrs €45 €10,125 €2,500 3.1 months
Several workflowsEnquiry to invoice, ten people and up 12 hrs €55 €29,700 €8,000 3.3 months

The calculation values time saved at your own hourly cost and assumes that time is actually put to other use. Where that does not hold, the benefit is smaller — we would rather say so beforehand.

When it does not pay off

Automation pays off for processes that recur frequently, follow clear rules and visibly cost time today. If one of those three is missing, the effort usually exceeds the gain.

A task that comes up twice a month and takes ten minutes costs you four hours a year. Valued at €45 that is €180 — against €1,500 to set up, it never amortises. A tidy template is the better answer there. If we reach that conclusion, we say so, even though it costs us the work. Whether your case adds up is something you can estimate yourself in two minutes with the ROI calculator.

We also advise against it when the process is currently changing. Automating something that will look different in three months means paying for it twice. Settle it first, then automate.

Seven questions to ask any provider

Including us. The answers say more about the eventual price than any figure on a home page:

  • What happens if one of my programs has no interface? Anyone without a clear answer has not checked the case.
  • Who owns the accounts after handover? The only right answer is: you do.
  • What does running it cost per month — including every tool? Ask for the total, not the fee.
  • How many hours of changes are included in support? “Included” with no number is not a commitment.
  • What counts as a fault and what as a new requirement? That line decides every invoice after acceptance.
  • What happens when a vendor changes their interface? It happens. The question is who notices and who pays.
  • Can you name a case where you advised against it? Anyone who cannot has never advised against anything.
  • Accounts in your name Every account and licence is yours. We build nothing that stops working without us.
  • 30 days of fault fixing Faults in our solution are fixed free of charge for 30 days after acceptance.
  • Fixed price before we start After the first conversation you get a price with a described scope. What is not in it is not invoiced.
  • Servers in Germany Our own platforms run at Hetzner in Germany, with a data processing agreement in place.
  • A “no” is included If your case does not add up, we say so — even though it costs us the project.
  • All verifiable We show no invented testimonials but three platforms of our own, running in public.

Frequently asked questions about our prices

Are these fixed prices?

The ranges are not — your quote is. After the first conversation and, if needed, the upfront analysis, you get a fixed price with a clearly described scope. Anything not in it is not quietly invoiced.

Why is the entry price lower than elsewhere?

Because we are a small operation with no sales team, no office floor and no layers in between. The effort is the same, the markup on top is smaller. Where we are not the right fit — very large projects, public tenders, corporate structures — we say so.

Do I pay in advance?

For projects up to €2,000, on acceptance. Above that, in two parts: on commissioning and on acceptance. Support is billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time.

What happens if something breaks after handover?

Faults in our solution are fixed free of charge for 30 days after acceptance. After that, either under the support agreement or by effort. If a vendor changes their interface, that is not a fault in our solution — but we tell you in advance where that risk sits.

Can the solution be run without you?

Yes. All accounts are in your name and the solution is handed over documented. We do not build anything that stops working without us.

How long does a project take?

A single workflow typically takes two to four weeks from commissioning to acceptance, most of which is coordination and testing rather than building. Several workflows are planned in stages, so the first relief does not have to wait for the end of the project.

Does this pay off for sole traders too?

Often yes, because there the time saved comes straight off your own working hours. In our experience the threshold sits at around two hours a week: below that a tidy template is the better answer, above it an automation usually pays for itself within the first year. The calculator above shows the point for your own figures.

Why don’t you name the providers you compare?

Because prices change. A named comparison would only be fair if we checked it continuously and tracked every change. The figures themselves are taken unchanged from the providers’ public pages — the survey is verifiable, and nobody is exposed.
